The discipline of power of the Machine Drives and Power Electronics explores the application of electronics to energy conversion and control. This discipline practises an innovative design-oriented and application-focused research in power electronics, drives and integrated circuit design.

The Electric Drives and Power Electronics group is the co-ordinator of the M. Tech programme in Machine Drives and Power Electronics.
The subjects covered in this M. Tech programme are as follows: Power Electronic Converters and Machine Drives, Machine Analysis, Advanced Power Electronic Converters, Advanced Machine Drives, Wind Energy, Special Electrical Machines etc.
